Pura Fashion

Description

Pura means ancient and the word fashion is not limited to costumes but reflects the entire way of life. Hence, this polynomial word has been used to name the book as ‘Purafashion’. This book has two sections. The first section covers the primitive period, then the Indus civilization and the Copper Age, the social life and clothing of the Vedic periods. In the second section, information about the costumes, jewelry, hairstyles, etc. of the Maurya, Shunga, Satavahana, Northwest Frontier, Kushan, and Gupta periods has been given. This book gives us information about the social life of different eras, clothes, ornaments, decorative tools, helmets, household furniture of that time. Migrants and traders in India later brought about a fusion of multiple cultures in clothing. The book also covers the subject of the vestments of the temple sculptures during the post-Gupta period. Based on the illustrations in this book, the book has grown very attractive. Dr. Nitin Hadap has arranged the book in a very scholarly way.

पुरा म्हणजे प्राचीन आणि फॅशन हा शब्द फक्त वेशभूषे पुरते मर्यादित नसून, संपूर्ण जीवन-पद्धतीचे प्रतिबिंब असते. त्यामुळे या बहुपदरी शब्दाचा उपयोग ‘पुराफॅशन’ असे पुस्तकाचे नाव ठेवण्यासाठी केला आहे. ह्या पुस्तकात दोन विभाग केले आहेत. पहिल्या विभागात आदिम कालखंड, नंतर सिंधू संस्कृती व ताम्रपाषाण युग, वैदिक कालखंडांमधील समाज जीवन व वस्त्रप्रावरणे यांची माहिती आहे. तर दुसऱ्या विभागात मौर्य, शुंग, सातवाहन, वायव्य सरहद्द, कुषाण, गुप्त अशा कालखंडातील पोशाख, दागदागिने केशभूषा इत्यादींची क्रमश: माहिती दिली आहे. ह्या पुस्तकामुळे वेगवेगळ्या कालखंडातील समाज जीवन, त्या काळातील कपडे, दागिने, सुशोभनाची साधने, शिरस्त्राणे, घरातील फर्निचर यांची माहिती आपल्याला मिळते. भारतात स्थलांतरित, व्यापाऱ्यांमुळे नंतर वस्त्रप्रावरणात बहुविध संस्कृतींचा मिलाप झाला. गुप्तोत्तर काळात मंदिरातील शिल्पांची वस्त्रप्रावरणे हे प्रकरणही या पुस्तकात समाविष्ट केले आहे. या पुस्तकातील चित्रांच्या आधारे पुस्तक अतिशय आकर्षक वाढले आहे. डॉ नितीन हडप यांनी अत्यंत अभ्यासपूर्ण रीतीने पुस्तकाची मांडणी केली आहे.
